Here is some useful information on installing a network printer on a vista or windows 7 computer from xp, this also works if you are trying to connect to 32 bit version of windows from 64 bit and visa versa. The reason for using this method is so you can use a downloaded driver which may be customized rather than using the driver installed on the host computer. If you are having a problem with an error stating "not enough server storage is available to process the command." you may have a value in the registry for irpstacksize that is too low here are the instructions on how to resolve this:

Click Start and select Run
Type regedit
Expand the HKLM key to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
Select the DWORD Value IRPStackSize and choose edit
Input a Decimal Value between 15 and 48 (48 being more)
